’15 Grand Caravan Loud Clunk! Rear Shocks and Coil Springs
It was a very loud and almost constant clunk coming from the back, especially pronounced over bumps. I thought it was a failed bushing of some kind, perhaps even rear axle bushing. But I was surprised. truly surprised to find it was two-fold! The new shocks AND a broken coil spring! I can only assume all of the heavy towing caused it to snap. Incredible!
NOTE: Pay attention to the position of the coil springs when you remove them. In this video I re-installed them upside down. It makes a difference. Later I went back in and flipped them back to proper position. Also, if you need to buy new coil springs, Rockauto now carries replacement springs with different spring rates. You can stiffen up the back if you want!
Stuff I bought:
- Coil Springs – Go check Rockauto.com
- Bushings – Its been too long! I brought an old bushing into a local auto parts store and matched it up to a poly bushing.
